Our last day on the tourist islands of the Philippines.
It’s our second ‘day at leisure’ here in Boracay, and probably one day too many. Most of the group are sitting in chairs around the pool chatting as they’ve run out of things to do. It’s certainly a great destination if you like swimming and other water activities. It’s really geared for tourists, with lots of eating options, and the beaches are great. However, if you are the kind of person who comes to discover the country rather than sun bake, then we could have used the day to explore somewhere else.
Anyway, we are very fortunate to have this opportunity, so we headed off on a reasonable walk to cover the other half of the island from yesterday. Thought it was a better bet than the activity one couple had been saving for their last day – getting matching tattoos.
Can’t say that we saw much that was different to what we’ve already seen. The destination that we headed for was a self-proclaimed good coffee shop, but it only reinforces that there is a huge cavern between the quality of coffees in Australia and Europe compared to Asia, regardless of what you print on your signs.
Like most in the group not suffering from needle regret, we hung around our room for the afternoon, before heading off to the farewell dinner. Sat on the balcony of the hotel, watched the sunset over the water, and reflected on a great tour.
