On To Spain (Mar 12)

Last morning in Portugal so we headed down to the main square in search of our last Portuguese tart. This time they made us a cappuccino by pouring a shot, then squirting canned cream on the top! At least a little more life in the place on a Saturday morning with a market being set up in the town square. A little different to markets back home that start around 6am, and people pack up by lunchtime. Here they were still unfolding their tables at 10am and pulling their stock out of the cars.

Left the apartment around 11, and rolled our way down to the bus station where we sat patiently until the bus arrived just after noon. Bus stations are the pits when it comes to helpful information, probably because no one company owns the building. There were three bus companies using the building, but our company had no signs, no timetables and certainly no display boards. You had no idea which platform the bus would pull into – probably the driver had no idea either until he got there. But one eventually pulled up with the word Sevilla in the window, and he seemed to accept our ticket, so on we got.

No toilet on board, but 10 minutes later we pulled into a servo for a 20 minute pit stop.

I guess one of the rivers we crossed must have been the official border to Spain, but there certainly wasn’t any officials or COVID checks. After all the hoops you go through to get in by air …….

Arrived in Sevilla pretty much on time, and pulled our cases down the road to our accomodation. Having lost an hour at the border, we basically headed down to the supermarket to sort some supplies, and called it quits.
